Umar continues to strive for excellence providing clients with high performance products that sustain and maintain optimal health of scalp and hair. Beauty By Umar focuses on graceful aging, cell rejuvenation and prolonging youth, not just styling coloring and cutting. While the aging process can not be stopped we can target dehydration, cellular oxidation, preserve elasticity, and maintain optimal cellular health in both skin and hair. 

I am a native Texan born in San Antonio.  I quickly relocated to Houston after attending Elegance International Academy in Los Angeles, California on scholarship in 1999. Before obtaining a cosmetology license I received my make-up certification from Elegance International Academy in 2000, followed by my cosmetology license from the state of Texas in 2002. Towards the end of 2002 I worked at Jose Eber as a makeup artist, mastering brow shaping and expanded my fascination for colors, textures, and shapes.. Aiming to gain more knowledge I completed training with Sensia Japanese Studio where I apprenticed learning french cutting/ razor techniques, basic application of color, styling and Japanese thermal straightening. 

From  2004-2013 I was under the employ of Fantastic Sams, Hot Tops Hair Salon, Thairapy Salon and Spa. Each experience added richly to my knowledge and understanding not only of technical skills, but also customer service. 

In 2018 I joined Keratin Complex as an educator/ brand ambassador facilitating hands on classes for 5 different smoothing treatments. I also had the privilege of demonstrating ways to generate additional revenue streams through adding on of services and introducing retail strategies to increase average sales per client.
